23 Nov Putting purpose at the heart of international business
Claire Tillekaerts, CEO of Flanders Investment & Trade, states Flemish companies have a lot of international potential. As a big believer of the purpose economy, she believes value driven leadership, talent and consumers are essential to create a successful international business.
Companies should protect our planet’s natural resources and climate for future generation, but also think about how they can end poverty and hunger in all forms, while ensuring dignity and equality. Moreover Tillekaerts states companies should ensure prosperous and fulfilling lives in harmony with nature and implement the agenda through a solid global partnership. But most important, companies should foster peaceful, just and inclusive societies.
As she illustrates these five key elements with examples of Chalo, Kaneka, Biobest, Nike and Happy Bags, she makes clear it is most important that companies not only focus on one element, but tie everything together.
“Purpose comes not out of the blue. It takes value-driven leadership, value-driven talent and and engaged consumers to come to a meaningful company”, says Claire Tillekaerts.
